What was the highlight of Hotel Ma'xanab Tulum
Good Stay
The hotel has a very good structure: swimming pool (a little cold) in front of the beach to give you all the comfort of having fresh water after staying at the sea. The service at the beach chairs and loungers is super fast and efficient and the hotel's location in the heart of the hotel zone is very convenient. The rooms are perfect, clean and well equipped. The beach in front is wonderful, wide, with warm water and soft, white sand.
The price of everything is excessively expensive: from a simple beer to a portion of snacks or drinks. I imagine, as an experienced traveler, that it would be expensive even in USD. Breakfast is limited to one dish per person and there is not much variety (just as there is not much variety in the dinner menu). The waiters all seem focused on receiving tips: they keep offering excessive things and when asking for the bill, not only is there an automatic tip charge (between 15%-20%), the bill also has a line written tip in Spanish for you to pay more tips - we definitely don't like this modus operandi. The hotel staff didn't seem very senior either, which wasn't expected given the price of everything, and locked our car keys at reception until 7am (when we needed to leave at 6am). The entire city of Tulum should watch out for its prices: with everything so expensive, it will be a distant option for us to return there (when I traveled to French Polynesia it was cheaper, impressive).

Fantastic experience
We stayed at this facility for 3 nights and it was a pleasant and relaxing experience. The staff, at the front desk and at the Beach Club, were excellent. Everyone was kind and friendly, attentive to our every need. The breakfast, served a la carte, was excellent. The rooms are very nice and spacious, with great views. The beach and sea are wonderful, with crystal clear water and a really relaxing scenery.

A pleasant pricey stay.
The place was nice and tidy, the pool was small, the beach was clean, the food was above average. I liked the jungle vibe they had going, a 2-3 night stay was great.
Well, it was on the pricier side for the size of the facilities offered and their charges for beverages and food. Breakfast was okay but portions for small compared to US or Mexico even, so was lunch.

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE HOTEL!!
It is hard to describe how wonderful this hotel is - I don't even know where to begin. We went to Tulum for our Honeymoon and this hotel was the best decision we made. Upon arrival our room wasn't quite ready so we spent some time in the bar area with the wonderful and accomodating bar staff - they were beyond amazing, so helpful, kind and great conversation. We were shown to our room where we were given an upgrade to suite with a pool and jungle view. The room was beyond our expectations, it was stunning. My husband and I will miss the bed and the pillows - the comfiest we have ever had. The room was large and spacious, and we had not one, not two but three showers in our room!! The hotel as a whole just felt so relaxed, the ethos at the hotel is chilled and this is what drew us to the hotel. The music plays from 12pm-10pm, which was perfect for us in comparison to some of the more lively beach clubs. The food and drinks were just fantastic - again a special shout out to the staff working at the beach including the bar and restaurant - amazing. Finally, we would like to especially thank Valeria who works at reception. She is an absolute credit to Ma'xanab, just such amazing customer service. Not only did she recommend us places to eat each night (fantastic recommedations), she also booked them for us. She helped us out with all sorts of things on our trip and just really made us feel at home - we will miss her! The reception staff as a whole were fantastic and were always just on the other end of whatsapp if we needed them, replying so quickly. Finally, the maids at the hotel were also amazing, always refilling our water, checking if we needed a turn down service, and the room was always spotless. We can't wait to go back, we have serious holiday blues and this is all down the hotel Ma'xanab! Thank you!
